ASSEMBLYMEMBER CHRIS BURDICK REMAINS SILENT ON HOCHUL’S PAY-TO-PLAY CORRUPTION SCHEME THAT COST TAXPAYERS MILLIONS

Refuses to Speak Out Against $637 Million No-Bid Contract to Top Hochul Donor & While NY Taxpayers Paid Twice the Price For COVID Tests

Location, NY--October 19, 2022

Assembly Candidate Gary Lipson calls out Assemblymember Chris Burdick for staying silent on Governor Hochul’s massive pay-to-play corruption scam that gave her top donor a $637 million no-bid contract. A series of news reports have detailed instances of Hochul’s pay-to-play schemes. One of the corrupt schemes played out after Hochul reauthorized her emergency powers to circumvent the usual procurement process and awarded a $637 million no-bid contract to a company whose owners and family members donated $300,000 to the governor and held a fundraiser for her campaign. A recent quote from Hochul implicates the Assembly, “Everything we do has been approved by the Legislature.”

The Hochul Administration awarded the non-bid contract to Digital Gadgets, a company known for selling hoverboards through QVC. Digital Gadgets sold the COVID tests to NewYork for twice the amount of what the state of California paid. New York paid $12.25 each for COVID   test kits, while others sold for as low as $5.

In addition, Governor Hochul’s campaign gave a job to the son of Digital Gadgets’ CEO. While the reports on Hochul’s blatant scheme have been public for weeks, Assemblymember Chris Burdick remains silent as the governor repeatedly renewed her emergency powers and on kickback schemes that have put Hochul under pressure even from even other Democrats. “Time and again,  Chris Burdick and the Assembly choose to protect their Party power over what’s best for the taxpayers,” said Lipson. “This is one of the most blatant, crooked kickback schemes in our state’s history, and  Burdick has absolutely nothing to say. It’s remarkable, but  his  silence and the silence of the Albany Democrats speaks volumes about everything wrong with the one-party rule in Albany right now.” Lipson concluded, “For two years, Burdick and the Assembly surrendered their constitutional duty to be an equal branch of government and handed over unchecked power to the corrupt Cuomo-Hochul regime.

When even other Democrats called this corruption alarming,  Burdick is nowhere to be found. He is complicit, and we will never clean up our state unless we clean house of the people who   perpetuate   this   corruption   with   their silence.”

Democrats work to expand their footprint

https://nyassembly.gov/leg/?default_fld=%0D%0A&leg_video=&bn=A08560&term=2021&Summary=Y&Actions=Y&Memo=Y&Text=Y

Chris Burdick is an NYS Assemblymember representing the 93rd District who co-sponsored a bill that will harm our District and the NYS. The bill moves to shift off-year local elections to coincide with national elections. The Assemblyman states that the change is needed to help address voter confusion and low turnout.

What is going on here is a blatant grab for power by the NYS Democratic Party. Local and Federal issues are not always aligned, and merging the two elections drowns out local issues. Conservatives have more representation outside of NYC, and by some ‘coincidence,’ NYC is excepted from this bill.

Each election needs to stand on its own. If Burdick was concerned about limiting confusion and promoting voter turnout, he would not have exempted NYC from the bill. Is Burdick representing the 93rd District or the NYC Progressive Party?

Taxpayers May Foot the Bill for Penn Station Rehab

The Bills Stadium was not enough for Gov. Hochul. The Democratic Administration is also pushing for an unprecedented rehab of Penn Station. This development is the largest project in American history, with eleven new office towers. The project is more than ten years old, and NYC's Independent Budget Office raises concerns. The expected revenue will not cover the cost, leaving the taxpayers to foot the bill. These concerns are not enough to stop the NYS Administration from pushing the project forward.

NYS Court stirkes the redistricting plan

The NYS legislature took over the redistricting process from a bipartisan panel. The problem is that they drew the map to unconstitutionally favor the democrats. The courts struck down the new map and the democrat's hope of gaining three new seats is in jeopardy.

Democrats work to expand their footprint

The Democrats control New York State including the governorship, legislature, and a majority of federal elected offices. The Democrats push an agenda to squeeze all other voices out the game. The courts ruled (twice now) that the democratics violated state law in their most recent effort to stack voting districts in favor of thier own party.

One party rule is not working out in NYS favor and it is time to change the balance of power.
